Alkalinity Control
ALKALINITY CONTROL
Liquid Alkalinity Control for Boiler Water Treatment
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Concentrated liquid alkaline product for corrosion and deposit
control in boilers.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
This treatment is usually used in conjunction with HARDNESS
CONTROL.
ALKALINITY CONTROL provides the alkaline conditions for
HARDNESS CONTOL to function correctly.
Without the correct precipitation and subsequent blowdown of hard
water salts, scale deposits would form. This would result in
restriction in water flow, ineffective heat transfer and local
corrosion. The end effect would be an inefficient boiler and
ultimately component failure. Treatment stops this occurring.
Corrosion due to acid conditions must be avoided.
DOSAGE:
A level or treatment is maintained by testing for P-Alkalinity. The
level is determined by the pressure and type of boiler. The normal
method of raising the alkalinity level is by adding the required
quantity of ALKALINITY CONTROL after testing for P-Alkalinity.
0.10 Litre will raise P-Alkalinity by 100ppm per 1000litre capacity.
DOSAGE METHOD:
For optimum results dose ALKALINITY CONTROL direct to the
boiler via the bypass pot-feeder installed in the boiler water feed
line.
In low pressure boiler (Group 1) ALKALINITY CONTROL may be
dosed to the hot well (condensate return tank).
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Appearance: Clear liquid
Specific Gravity: 1.3 @20'C
Odour: None
Flash Point: NoneFEATURES AND BENEFITS
* Convenient liquid treatment which
provides the basic alkalinity on which
successful water treatment depends.
* Maintains alkalinity within optimum
limits.
* Provides optimum conditions for
hardness control to function.
* Assists in precipitation and blowdown of
magnesium salts.
* Neutralises acid conditions.
* Allows efficiency to be maintained,
and reduces maintenance.
* Can be mixed with most treatment
chemicals.
* Will assist in keeping silica in
suspension.
* Simple test to determine level of
treatment.
APPLICATION:
* Used for providing the required
alkaline conditions within the boiler.
* To neutralise any acid condition on
board.
* Assist in coagulating oil contamination.
* For all boiler pressures.
