Inhibited Sulphamic Acid
Inhibited powder descaler (Detartrant)
WITH DYE INDICATOR
FORD TOX NO: 110446
A highly active inhibited acid in powder form which removes hard water scale from metal surfaces. An
indicator is incorporated which will give a colour change when the acidity drops.
APPLICATIONS
* Internal surfaces of heating systems, spray washers, water boilers and similar equipment, blocked
spray nozzles.
* Cleans brass and copper parts
* Descales stainless steel and vitreous urinals
* Descales urns and kettles, dishwashers & washing machines.
Where brass and copper are encountered, the product is less aggressive than most liquid acids and fumes are
not so significant. Galvanised steel may be slightly attacked by sulphamic acid so limit temperature and
contact time.
DILUTION
A practical guide when descaling:-
1 kg powder to 9 litres of water equals an approximate solution of 10%.
10% to 20% solution is usual for descaling.
For domestic equipment lower concentrations of between 1-5% may be sufficient.
A freshly prepared solution will be red/violet in colour.
METHOD OF USE
* Descaling of heating and other systems with complicated internal surfaces should only be carried
out under the supervision of suitably qualified engineers.
* Inhibited powder acid is premixed in a container and, where possible heated to 820C
approximately. The solution is circulated; left for a period in contact with scaled surfaces; recirculated and
removed. When the activity is depleted the colour will change from red to yellow and at this stage descaling
will be impaired.
It is advisable to neutralise by circulating a 1.5% solution of Performance PA11. Rinse thoroughly
with clean water after use.
Performance Technical representatives are available to advise operators.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
* Acid products can cause irritation to the skin.
* Operators must wear protective clothing, including rubber or PVC gloves, footwear, aprons or
overalls.
* Suitable goggles or face masks are essential
* In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with clean running water and if badly
affected, seek Medical advice
* Maximum ventilation is necessary in the area of operation
* For more detailed health and safety information request a hazard data sheet.
Packaging: 25kg sacks
N.B.Uninhibited Sulphamic Acid available on request.
