PSMF - Alkaline Liquid Spray Wash Cleaning Additive
PSMF
FORD TOXICOLOGY No 135022.
PERFORMANCE PSMF is an alkaline liquid spray wash cleaning additive which is
formulated for the removal of oil and grease from metal.
PSMF is particularly suitable for the maintenance of press and die shop components:
the highly active formulation will remove press oils and grease without affecting
painted surfaces.
The blend of alkaline builders, surfactants and corrosion inhibitors allow powerful
cleaning performance on both ferrous and light metal substrates (under suitable
usage conditions) without attack. E.g., for cleaning brass you should not use too
conc. or too hot, otherwise it may attack the tin / zinc in the brass.
METHOD OF USE:
For use in press shops PSMF is normally applied by pressure spray lance or spray
machine within the following parameters.
CONCENTRATION
Between 1.5 % - 4.0 % by volume ( normally 2.5 % either set on the machine
injector or made up of 25 litres per 1000 litres )
TEMPERATURE
Between 40 degrees centigrade - 60 degrees centigrade. Higher temperature aiding
the removal of stubborn greases.
PRESSURE
The low foaming characteristic will permit use in most spray applications.
PSMF will leave a protective film on the cleaned surface which will give
approximately 3 months corrosion protection under good indoor storage
conditions. Components should not be rinsed after cleaning as this will
remove the protective film.
TEST METHOD
25 ml sample of solution, Add a few drops of bromo phenol blue indicator, Titrate
with 0.1N (0.1M) hydrochloric acid to a yellow end point
Then 6.0 ml 0.1M HCL. = 1% v/v PSMF
TEST KIT:- 25ml burrette
25ml pipette (on 25ml measuring CYL.)
250ml flask
1litre 0.1M hydrochloric acid
100ml bromo phenol blue indicator.
If used at 2% v/v then change method to:-
10ml sample; bromo phenol blue indicator
Titrate with 0.1N hydrochloric acid.
N.B
PSMF PLUS is also available. This product contains additions of nitrite to provide
additional rust inhibition.
PACKAGING :- 25 + 205 LITRE CONTAINERS.
